. SAPPHO’S MOON | London Progressive Journal
A non-partisan journal of the left.

Sat 7th Apr 2018

The moon within her rose,

slowly drifting westward

until midnight was a fathomless ocean.

And so she was abandoned.

‘How easily fooled’, she said

of all women in need,

‘forgetful of the things that are theirs’.

These things are hers alone,

ever to find the guiding star

leading to the heartland

where none lie alone but by choice.

And then she decides easily

to rise with the sun,

to sleep with the moon.
