These are our faces

regarding each lorry

like an iron ark, moving

across the tarmac waves

together

These are our hands

gripping the wire fence

as if pulling the coastlines

still closer and closer

together

These are our mouths

calling out the place names

and sounds of our home towns

where families wait for news

together

These are our feet

worn down with running

from beaches to borders

or standing in lines

together

This is your swarm, then;

sharing the burden

of displacement, the

search for a better life

together

This is our truth, but

when you pronounce your truth

in comfort beyond fences

do you and your people stand

together?
