City of Four Seasons

City of four seasons,

of a year passing in one day’s changes

when all the earth’s emotions gather,

where winds from the south fall

as the dust of Araby.

North feels the bite of the bear.

Rain tastes like tears of departure.

Here is where the world divides,

where oceans become mountains.

The road beyond is beginning

to lead the traveller to follow

what the eye cannot see,

but the heart believes

as surely as sea surrounds us.
